Fantastic. I love Russian literature. This book gripped me for almost the entire 700 pages. Exquisitely written, neither too verbose nor too sparse, it was a pleasure to read week after week. When I finished it, I was actually tempted to start it over from the beginning. The characters are enchanting, and the plot rolls along smoothly, picking up pace from page to page. Even the “minor” characters (is there such a thing in a book like this?) seem to materialize before you on the page. I have a set of dog-eared pages awaiting my return to ponder over them again. For simply a gripping story line, or for a challenging read on philosophy, religion, and psychology, Brothers Karamazov is well worth the effort.
